Star in a Bra USA top thirty: Tiffany Schmidt
Written by Cheryl on May 14, 2012In typical British fashion, it has just started ‘tipping it down’. That means raining to our American readers! No need to frown, we’ve still got one more interview of the day from the stunning Tiffany Schmidt.
Hi Tiffany, why don’t you tell us more about yourself?
Hi, my name is Tiffany Schmidt. I am a dual enrolled Oregon State University and Linn Benton Community College student who is studying Pre-Nursing. My ultimate goal is to get into nursing school at the Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland Oregon. When I’m not studying like crazy for school I’m most likely reading a good novel or swing dancing. Dancing is what has actually improved my self-esteem so immensely within the past four years. Through Oregon State University I started taking Ballroom and Swing dance lessons. I now travel for dance competitions with friends and even occasionally help teach within my community. It has helped me come to terms with how I look and that being a different shape and size is just a beautifully different outlook on life.
You’re a dancer? Just like our very own Laura Butler! We can’t dance for toffee, so maybe you can both give us lessons? Why else did you decide to enter the competition?
Being a Petite and curvy woman goes hand in hand with my quirky personality. I love how this contest allows us to show who we are both inside and out. I first heard about the Curvy Kate Star in a Bra contest via my friend Danielle, who also entered and made the top 30. I couldn’t believe something like this actually existed. Having been fitted for a proper bra size only weeks before I was thrilled to see that there was a company that not only catered to larger busted women but also supported a curvy body image. I entered the competition for fun with my friend but I also entered as a way to show the world that being curvy is beautiful.
We’re so grateful to your friend Danielle for introducing you to us, what a good friend to have. Why do you think people should vote for you?
I grew up all over the US and was born abroad in Taiwan, due to my dad’s job. By the time I graduated High School I had been enrolled in over 17 different schools from my K-12. Although I believe that I am now a more rounded and mature person because of my childhood I also believe that my constant strive to make new friends was one of the biggest reasons I had such a hard time growing into and excepting my body type. I’m not only curvy but I’m also very short. I stopped growing at 5’2 by the time I was 16. When I did except who I was and how I looked I found that I was a happier and healthier person. This company stands for everything that our current culture does not support. I want to help promote Curvy Kate because of how much a positive body image is needed in our world today. There are too many woman who don’t believe in themselves due to how they look. I would love to be given the opportunity to represent Curvy Kate in the US and encourage women to stand for having a positive body image. This company and everyone who supports it is making a difference.

Tiffany is a wonderful person and close friend of mine. She is absolutely hilarious and as she says does indeed fit both her personality and body type perfectly. She is also a very lovely and talented dancer and I’m sure will use that in her photos.
