Star in a Bra Australia top twenty: Cassie Hayes
Written by Cheryl on Aug 6, 2012As most of you will know by now, it’s Star in a Bra time in Australia! We have 20 gorgeous finalists, and since so many of you wait for our blog interviews, I thought it was about time we got started with them!
First up is the stunning Cassie Hayes.
Hi Cassie, and congrats for making the Aussie top 20! Could you tell us a bit more about you?
I am 21 years old and currently in my third year of an arts/law degree at the University of Tasmania. I have always had an interest in human rights and hope to graduate and work in that field. I moved away from my home town to study and live with 2 friends from high school which is heaps of fun. My mum and brother are nurses and my dad and sister, social workers. I love animals, summer, relaxing, sports, music, bush walking, op shopping, spending time with family and friends, reading and travel! I enjoy swimming , dancing, rowing and play social basketball. I have travelled to many different places with my favourite destination so far being Indonesia, where I recently travelled and participated in an in-country language programme. I am always eager to try new things, adventure and most of all love to get out into nature as much as possible. I also love my job!! I work at a pharmacy part time alongside university and am passionate about health. I have the best colleagues but also love to be able to chat away to all the diverse customers we have come into our shop.. the only bad thing about it is I spend heaps of money on perfume, my favourites are Euphoria by Calvin Klein and Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker. My absolute favourite foods are sushi and anything Greek, but I also have a weakness for dark chocolate!
Why did you enter the competition?
I entered this competition because I want to show other women that you can be confident, healthy and happy no matter what shape or size. Although I have always been quite a confident, bubbly person and sociable person, I have always had body image issues which have at times really got to me. In the last year or so, I have somewhat overcome these issues and gained more confidence with my body. I know I am not alone with such insecurities and these days, so much pressure is placed on looking a certain way. For many, it is simply unattainable to conform to many images thrown about in the media. Some women are short, others tall, some have hips, some do not. We are all different and unique in our own special ways, so as long as we are happy with ourselves and healthy then we should embrace that. All women have good and bad days but at the end of the day, life is too short, so hold your head up and smile. People will remember you for it!
Last but not least, it’s the one that I always feel bad asking… Why do you think people should vote for you?
At the end of the day there are 19 other women in the running, all gorgeous and all with the capacity to be excellent representatives for Curvy Kate. For me, this competition is about doing something I never thought I could, putting myself out there for the great message it sends to others. In particular, I have young family members who I want to be a role model to and who I want to grow up to be confident and happy young ladies. I am so appreciative for the support so far and thank anyone who chooses to vote for me in advance!
