Star in a Bra 2012 winner revealed!

It’s that moment you’ve all been waiting for, folks, and we’re delighted to announce that the winner of this year’s Star in a Bra competition is the very lovely and very gorgeous Sophie Morgan. We caught up with her to hear a few words about her victory!
Winning this competition means so much to me, I don’t even know how to put it into words. I entered for a bit of fun in the beginning and because it was a giggle to take some nice photos with my boyfriend… I never even entertained the idea that I would get as far as I have! I also wanted to feel like I was doing something positive for myself and to raise my self confidence, after coming back from India where I got very sick, my body felt strange to me. I followed the competition for a few years and I have always admired the message that Curvy Kate put out, and felt inspired by all of the beautiful girls who entered each year.
I’ve said it before in the interviews and I can’t stress it enough – I believe it is vital for our society to make a shift in the way we view women and the way women are portrayed in the media and fashion industry. Now more than ever we need brands like Curvy Kate to acknowledge that we not only need, but we WANT to see more varied portrayals of the female body in the media, so that girls no longer grow up comparing themselves to such a narrow ideal of what beauty can be.
I really believe that I have the passion, the confidence and the brains not just to model Curvy Kate, but to live and breathe everything that it stands for. I hope I can do the best I can to help other women see how wonderful it is to throw away all these restrictions of how we should conform to standard ideals of what a woman should be – and feel comfortable and happy with themselves just the way they are. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to get my voice across and help everyone see that beauty isn’t about how you look….it’s about how you feel!
